You can reserve an appointment at the Equine Hospital from Monday to Friday at
8am–4pm.

Emergency duty
In cases of emergency, the Equine Hospital has an emergency service available, which provides first aid in urgent cases outside normal hours:

• weekdays outside normal hours, from 4pm to 8am
• weekends from Friday at 4pm to Monday at 8am
• public holidays

The emergency service covers the Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, and Kirkkonummi area. Only urgent cases are treated at the emergency clinic. Emergency-duty fees are higher than the normal rates.

• the emergency line is in use outside office hours (on weekdays from 4pm to 8am and from Friday at 4pm to Monday at 8am) and on public holidays
• the phone will be answered by an animal attendant or a student
• only matters related to horses and urgent cases related to production animals in Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, and Kirkkonummi are handled by phone

Also, house calls are made from the hospital in the Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, and Kirkkonummi area. Emergency cases can be admitted from elsewhere in Finland if the veterinarian on duty at the Equine Hospital thinks that hospital treatment is necessary.

A referral from the veterinarian sending the horse must accompany the patient.

It is obligatory to inform the hospital by phone about all incoming patients during emergency-duty hours.
