Research at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

The research conducted at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is multi-disciplinary and of a high standard internationally. The three complementary areas of research at the faculty are:
1. Food safety and the health of humans
2. Host response and the host-microbe relationship
3. Animal health and welfare
A large portion of the research is situated at the intersections of these research areas. This makes it possible to develop a multi- and cross-disciplinary research collaboration both within and outside the faculty.
The research areas are focused on:
- Current and threatening infective diseases
- Pathogenic microbes spread through food and water
- Food contamination
- Food safety monitoring
- Hygiene of food preparation processess
- Animal welfare research
